PROMOTING CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY AND RESPECT FOR VOLUTEERISM PROJECT REPORT AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN UGANDA

Students for Global Democracy Uganda (SGD Uganda) is a students led not-for-profit and non-partisan organization which inspires students, principally young people to adopt to the culture of leadership, good governance and sustainability, to effectively enable them participate in the democratic process and sustainable development of their country and the outside world,the organization has carried out a  project -promoting responsible citizenship and civil culture against violence and respect for volunteerism among the youth in Uganda. The project engaged the young people and stake holders in activities that are geared towards enhancing their individual love and respect for volunteerism and community service in life;This project addresses these inadequacies by devising new and appropriate approaches, interventions and measures to address the problem of young people violence and constructive civic engagement through volunteerism .the project has been individual-centered because it uses the young people (potential victims) as the instruments of program implementation and primary beneficiaries of the project strategic goal , which is behavior change. The intervention  was built on a political psycho-social approach in which young people’s right to political participation, civic participation and patriotic participation, and community participation is predominantly
